The El Medio Fire Department
performed a live fire training exercise on
February 21st, 2009. Firefighters had
the opportunity to use new equipment,
perform real time strategies and tactics
including fire suppression with both
smooth bore and fog nozzles, perform real time vertical
ventilation with live fire as well as train on the vent enter search method.
Firefighters had the opportunity to watch the fire develop from the
incipient phase to the end of the growth phase.
The building was a small single story structure off Pomola Ave that was
donated by the home owner. Months of preparation went into getting the
house ready for the burn. Firefighters donated much of their free time to
make sure the structure was ready by the deadline.
The training burn was a huge success, all objectives were met.
